Like most subjects of this nature initial facts have been somewhat muddled although not deliberately in my view and some facts have been exaggerated. However the basis of the story remains intact and is at the very least worthy of further scrutiny. The suggestion of Jesus' marriage isn't new and comments have been made by prominent people for centuries. There are indeed protectors of the faith (why wouldn't they?). One can usually recognise if the opposition to any detailed scrutiny of this subject takes the form of mindless debunkery by constant attacks on genuine enquiry using well tried and tested techniques Paul Smith is one such person.

When you start to investigate this in detail you start to notice that that WWII operatives involved with the OSS later became Secret Service operatives of their respective countries. Plantard said he worked for the French resistance during WWII and the French resistance had direct links to the OSS which was the forerunner of the CIA which started in 1948.

If there' s any truth in this (and even if there's only merely a suggestion that it might be true) the potential importance of it would attract at least an investigation from the Secret Services of the various countries involved, including the CIA. There's some involvement with Mitterrand in all this and this constitutes a direct link to the French Deuxieme Bureau, who probably have a direct phone line to the CIA and MI5.

The fact that there's some disinformation in all this also makes one suspicious of some Secret Service involvement.

Sauniere was tried but the charge of trafficking in masses was dropped because it was unproven. They had no evidence whatsoever that Saunière's money had come from such sources.

He was however found guilty of disobedience of his bishop and was most definately guilty of that charge and found guilty of having spending lavishly without records another charge to which he was most definately guilty.

He couldn't have said the masses and he didn't even try? So how do they know? Nobody denies that Saunière had money coming in but what evidence do they have that all of the money coming in came entirely from the promise of masses. They don't have any. It's ALL speculation coupled with wishful thinking. Descadeillas was a great researcher but a lousy guesser and most if not all of what he said regarding mass trafficking is total guesswork.

The only records they have that he sold masses at all (which isn't illegal) came from Saunière himself. If he had no intention of delivering his promise why would he keep records simply to incriminate himself?

Saunière's money was coming from donations, thousands of them. So what's so special about giving money to a back-woods priest in the Languedoc?

I had considered upgrading the look of the website but this story is not standing still and requires the text being upgraded and additions made all of the time. It will be far easier simply to present a Word text style for ease of reading and not have elaborate and clever javascript cluttering up the webpages and distracting from the message.

Additionally most websites I go to suffer from information overload syndrome. They overwhelm you with so many facts that you end up with none. I find it is far better to present things a little at a time and at the pace of the reader.

There's one area that Paul Smith and myself agree and that is the nature of the political overtones of Plantard and the other members of the Priory of Sion.
